Scoreboard

In the second eliminator on Saturday, batting heavyweights Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets, sending them to their first PSL final since 2018. The victory was secured by Imad Wasim and Haider Ali.

United chose to chase and managed to reach Peshawar Zalmi's 186 mark with an over remaining as Haider hit five sixes in his 29-ball 52 not out and Imad slammed an undefeated 59.

Prior to this, Zalmi opener Saim Ayub hit a brilliant 73 off 44 to send Zalmi to 185 for 5 in their 20 overs. Shadab Khan, the captain of United, was involved in all five dismissals. He took four excellent outfield catches and removed Ayub in the crucial 15th over.

Monday's final will see United take against Multan Sultans. United won two titles in the first three PSL seasons, including the 2018 season.

For the first time this season, Zalmi's three-spinner strategy was paying off as Ayub (2 for 34) took the crucial wickets of Agha Salman (5) and Alex Hales (1). Shadab was dismissed for a duck by left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz, and Martin Guptill (34) made a soft catch at mid-on as Islamabad collapsed to 50 for 4 during the batting power play.

Luke Wood's slower delivery removed Azam Khan (22) but Imad and Haider went on to make their match-winning 98-run partnership in 8.1 overs.

With 35 needed in the final three overs, Aamer Jamal gave up 23 runs in six balls, and Haider hammered two sixes and two fours to all but end the match.

Before Shadab made an incredible grab at mid-off, Babar Azam scored 25 runs to cap up an incredible season with 569 runs, the most of any batter in PSL history. In consecutive overs, Mohammad Haris (40) and Ayub fell.

In his opening over, fast bowler Naseem Shah (3 for 30) removed Babar from the game, and in the last overs, he also removed Haris and Tom Kohler-Cadmore.
