Match 25 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 between the two playoff contenders Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday, March 8, with the former looking to exact revenge for their defeat in the reverse encounter.
Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam and now ranked fourth with nine points from eight games, are coming off a four-run victory over Multan Sultans, who are atop the table. Gladiators, ranked third with nine points from seven games, enter the game fresh off a seven-wicket defeat to Karachi Kings.
But Quetta Gladiators, led by Rilee Rossouw, will have confidence after defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 16 runs in a thrilling season-opening game at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
Jason Roy (75 off 48) and Saud Shakeel (74 off 47) at the batting helped Quetta reach 206/5 in the 20 overs that were allowed to them. In reply, Zalmi got off to a brilliant start thanks to Babar (68 off 42) and Saim Ayub (42 off 26). Abrar Ahmed (2 for 29) and Mohammad Amir (1 for 29) then put an end to the chase at 190/6.
When Gladiators play Zalmi for the 23rd time in the HBL PSL and for the third time at the Rawalpindi venue, where the two teams played one of the most memorable matches in which Gladiators rode on Jason Roy's 145 to chase down 241 in 2023, they will be looking to duplicate their performance from last month.
