Match No 21 PZ vs MS head to head

Match 21 of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 between Peshawar Zalmi and table-toppers Multan Sultans will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, March 5, with the team hoping to recover from their most recent loss.

The fourth-placed Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam, have just suffered their third loss of the year, while the Multan Sultans, under the direction of Muhammad Rizwan, have won their last three games and are guaranteed a spot in the PSL 2024 playoffs.

Less than twenty-four hours prior, at the same location in Rawalpindi, Peshawar Zalmi was unable to chase down 197 against Islamabad United. Although both the very skilled openers, Babar and Saim Ayub, fell for cheap, Aamer Jamal demonstrated his batting prowess with a 49-ball 87 scored late in the innings.

On the other side, Usman Khan's undefeated century and captain Rizwan's fifty helped the Multan Sultans set a target of 190 for the Karachi Kings, who could only manage 169 in their allocated 20 overs following Usama Mir's outstanding 2 for 29 in 4 overs.

Even though Peshawar Zalmi recently lost, Babar and company should still feel confident because they are the only club to defeat Multan Sultans in the rematch at Multan's backyard this season.

When Zalmi plays Sultans for the fifteenth time in the HBL PSL and for the second time at the Rawalpindi venue, where the two teams played one of the most memorable matches in which the Sultans rode on a century by Rilee Rossouw to chase down 243 in 2023, they will be looking to duplicate their performance from last month.

At several points during both innings, United looked to have won that match, but never more so than when they got the Sultans down to 127 for 9. However, Iftikhar Ahmed's cameo of an unbeaten 32 off 20 balls lifted the Sultans to 159, a score that they felt they had just about enough manpower to ...
