LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi clarified his previous remarks regarding the surgery of the national men’s team, lamenting the lack of a pool of players.
In an interview with the media on Monday at Gaddafi Stadium, Naqvi claimed that the senior men's selection committee lacked a pool of players from which to choose to replace the underperforming players. This suggests that the team's operation has been postponed.
"The issue is that the players cannot be chosen by our selection committee from a bank of players."
"When we used to discuss the operation, it was undoubtedly because we wanted to make up for our mistakes."
"However, in order to say that we have a list of 10–25 players to replace, say, four players, we do not have [enough players] and data."
Then, Mohsin Naqvi asserted that Pakistan Cricket would be able to discover and explore fresh potential thanks to the upcoming Champions Cup, and that the selection committee would have a large enough player pool to alter the lineup following the conclusion of the domestic competition.
"We will have a crop of Champions Cup talent, the record as well, and the ability to do whatever is required." The surgery has a flaw in that there should be enough instruments. "
"We would have a pool of about 150 players after the Champions Cup is over and the record is upheld. Following that, it would be simple for the selection to determine who required surgery and who needed to be replaced by whom."
In addition, Mohsin Naqvi discussed the current Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh and made it clear that, although the decision to hold the second Test in Karachi had been made before he became involved, he later changed his mind because of the ongoing renovations at the venue.
