The appointment of Naveed Akram Cheema as squad manager is in preparation for the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
From December 2023 until January 2024, Cheema led the Australian and New Zealand squad as manager. But after the twin tours, Wahab Riaz was named the senior team manager for the series, while Mansoor Rana took his place as the team manager.
Wahab and Mansoor were stripped of their managing responsibilities after Pakistan's underwhelming performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 because of their alleged inability to uphold discipline among the team. Resuming his position as the new manager of the Pakistan cricket team, Naveed Akram Cheema will be enforcing stringent discipline policies.
According to reports, PCB is expected to reveal the Bangladesh series team management within the next few days. The first Test of the forthcoming series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will take place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from August 21–25 as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023–25. The National Bank Stadium in Karachi will host the second Test match between August 30 and September 3, 2019.
