Hawk-Eye apologizes to PCB

Regarding the Rossouw lbw error, Hawk-Eye apologizes to PCB.

The Gladiators' innings were in their eleventh over when the tragedy happened. Gladiators captain Rilee Rossouw attempted to sweep Salman Ali Agha off the last delivery of the over, but he was unable and the ball struck his front pad. An enthusiastic appeal from the fielding side was upheld by Aleem Dar, and Gladiators looked it over right away.

Hawk-Eye acknowledges that the delivery in question's ball tracking did not match the route of the real delivery that was reported for examination.
After admitting to a mistake made during Islamabad United's three-wicket loss to Quetta Gladiators on Thursday, Hawk-Eye wrote a letter of apology to the PCB.

In the eleventh over of the Gladiators' innings, the incident took place. The ball hit Salman Ali Agha's front pad after Gladiators skipper Rilee Rossouw went across to attempt a sweep off the last delivery of the over. However, he was unsuccessful. Gladiators quickly examined Aleem Dar's enthusiastic appeal from the fielding side.

After some time, Hawk-Eye concluded that the ball had struck the left-hander outside of the stump line and that it had also missed off stump. The fielding team and umpire Dar appeared obviously astonished when they saw the slow-motion clip because it seemed like the ball was straightening rather than grabbing and twisting. A possible discrepancy between where the ball had struck Rossouw and where Hawk-Eye's tracking said it had struck was also hinted at by static photos of the impact on the pad, with the former considerably more likely to be in line with the stumps.

The production department and PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer are notified in a letter that the ball tracking for the delivery in issue did not match the route of the actual delivery that was reported for inspection. The error's cause is yet unknown.

Islamabad's captain, Shadab Khan, did not try to hide his frustrations during an on-screen interview following the game.

"I think technology made a mistake," he said. "The ball-tracking showed a different delivery, and it was a match-changing moment. These sorts of things should be sorted out properly in such a big tournament. These mistakes should not happen. I bowled four overs here as a legspinner, and I don't think the ball was spinning here. And they showed Agha [Salman]'s delivery hitting outside off stump and spinning away. I don't buy that."

Shadab's displeasure was exacerbated by how finely balanced the match was. After losing four early wickets, Sherfane Rutherford and Rossouw were helping the Gladiators restore their partnership. Nine overs remained, and the Gladiators needed to score 57 more runs to win at 82 for 4. They were especially exposed by having a long tail, which United thought would allow them to break the game open.

As events transpired, the pair formed a relationship that rendered the game unattainable for United. With Rossouw remaining undefeated at 34 until the very end, they put together 62 for the fifth wicket.

Ihsanullah's inaccurate elbow diagnosis is noted by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is furious over how board members have handled the injury of young fast bowler Ihsanullah. Ihsan, 21, made a big impression with his pace in the Pakistan Super League last year. He then took part in two ODIs at home against New Zealand and three T20 matches against Afghanistan in Sharjah. But after the series against New Zealand, he suffered an elbow injury that kept him out of action for the Asia Cup and World Cup. Unfortunately for the youngster, his recovery has not yet been complete due to a misdiagnosis of his condition and a botched operation in Lahore. A top physician on the board's medical panel made the first diagnosis, according to a Press Trust of India article. As a result, time was lost trying to heal the patient without surgery. Following a failed surgery at a private hospital in Lahore, medical professionals at his PSL team, Multan Sultan, determined he needed to see a specialist in the UK. The PCB has n...

He claimed five wickets and was out in the middle when Hunain Shah angled the final delivery behind point to win United's third title. In Karachi today, the drama of the previous year's epic final, which the Sultans lost by a run, was undoubtedly surpassed. At several points during both innings, United looked to have won that match, but never more so than when they got the Sultans down to 127 for 9. However, Iftikhar Ahmed's cameo of an unbeaten 32 off 20 balls lifted the Sultans to 159, a score that they felt they had just about enough manpower to ...
